Simpson portrait at National Portrait Gallery

In the summer 2017, the Georgetown public library loaned James Alexander Simpson's portrait of Yarrow Mamout to the National Portrait Gallery for three years.  NPG curator Asma Naeem had it prominently displayed in a gallery with portraits of colonial, European Americans.  The exhibit recently received honorable mention as one of the best exhibits in 2017 even though it was an exhibit of only one painting.
